Landscape Architects are highly involved with construction.

The firm designs things to be built on the land. To do this successfully, designers must understand not only man made materials like concrete, masonry, wood, and steel but they must understand the construction capabilities and limitations of natural materials like vegetation, soils, moisture, wind and temperature.

Landscape construction generally involves the building of concrete, brick, stone and wood structures. The installation of irrigation, lighting, drainage systems and site furniture like playground equipment, signage, tables, chairs and benches. And of course, the installation of trees, shrubs, groundcovers, annuals, perennials and grasses comprise a large share of the landscape construction that the landscape architect manages.

The Landscape Architect represents the owner and oversees construction activities undertaken by builders, contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers.
