Above Ground Cistern

Technical Standards for Above Ground Cisterns

1. Specific design standards in terms of materials, size, holding capacity and flow through process for above ground cistern shall be provided by manufacturer.

2. Calculate extent of design storm rain fall to be stored in above ground cisterns, provide pass through access for exceptional rain events.  

3. Site above ground cisterns in open spaces to facilitate cleaning and maintenance. Above grounnd cisterns can be sited anywhere on site if necessary but access to each chamber will be needed with a removable surface plate. Site cisterns near buildings when possible with disconnecting roof top runs off to be used in an underground irrigation system.

4. Above ground cisterns can be used in conjunction with a site irrigation system that will sprinkle the collected water on to lawns and landscape beds. All water is to be filtered prior to introduction to the underground sprinkler system.

5. Do not remove existing treed areas to install storm water chambers.
